Design Principals

1. balance 2. Contrast 3. Movement 4. emphasis

1. Balance :relation of elements in relation to each other and the frame . Theres 2 types of balance symetrical and asymmetrical  symetrical is mirror image. Asymmetrical is not mirrored either side across the centre line.

2. contrast : simply means difference, if we didn’t have contrast the subject would be monotonous bland and uninteresting . contrasting shapes can add tension and with colour our eyes are drawn to colour no matter how small.

3.Movement : movement is the path our eyes folow in a work of art this is achieved by using line repetition and rythym.

4. emphasis : This is the use of particular area of focus rather than numerous details of equal importance and bringing our attention to the most important part of a painting.
